How many states in India?

0

As of my knowledge cut-off in 2021, India is divided into 28 states and 8 Union Territories. The states are: Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

The Union Territories are: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The status of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has been changed from state to Union Territory in 2019.

It's worth noting that the number of states and Union territories in India are subject to change, as the government has the power to create new states or merge existing ones. It's important to check the latest information on the official government website.
