Where is anp found?

ANP (atrial natriuretic peptide) is primarily found in the heart, specifically in the atria. ANP is a hormone that is secreted by the atrial myocytes, which are specialized cells in the atria of the heart.

ANP is synthesized and stored in secretory granules within the atrial myocytes. When the heart is stretched, such as during an increase in blood volume or pressure, ANP is released into the bloodstream.

ANP can also be found in other tissues in the body, such as the brain, kidneys, and adrenal glands, although it is primarily produced in the heart. In these other tissues, ANP can have effects on fluid and electrolyte balance, blood pressure regulation, and other physiological processes.
