What is RSV?

0

RSV stands for Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It's a common virus that affects the respiratory tract, particularly in young children. RSV can cause cold-like symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and fever. In most healthy children and adults, RSV leads to mild, cold-like symptoms. However, it can be more severe in infants, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems or certain health conditions. Severe cases of RSV can lead to bronchiolitis or pneumonia, especially in vulnerable populations.
